Sea Scout troops Myrskypojat

Myrskypojat, “Storm Boys” is one of largest and oldest Sea Scout troops in Finland. In fact some believe that Myrskypojat was the first real Sea Scouting troop in Finland.

Myrskypojat offers sea scouting activities for boys 8 years and older. Troop is divided to three fleets (sections). The cup fleet offers program for boy from age 8-10 years old. The main focus in our activities is put to scout fleet with boys from age 11-17. The venture fleet called Meripurakat (local dialect meaning experienced sailor) is for boys over 15 years and older.

Apart from having regular weekly meetings for cubs and scouts, Myrskypojat offers a wide range of activities for its members. Outdoor activities include frequently held weekend camps. The troop owns an island called Partiokari in Rauma archipelago to be used for scouts and ventures for camping purposes. Usually the troop organizes summer camp for cub scouts and winter and summer camp for scouts. On the first weekend of November all scouts and ventures join traditional Timangi camp.

The Sea Scouting activities consist sail training in camps and evening meetings. The troops have excellent opportunities to carry this training. It has its smaller sailing craft stored and available only from one nautical mile from Partiokari and area offers safe training area. Small crafts consist four Scout 430 dingeys and two My boats.

S/y Meripurakk is used for training of sailing, navigational skills, seamanship and safety of boating.

The troop has craft for sailing even in winter. It has two DN ice sailing crafts.
